Maribeth did this on her blog and then I also saw it on Kim's. I think it's good to do some check-ups in relationships - just like you would a car. So here's my way past due marriage check-up (I'm sure we're way past 3000 miles)

How long have you been together? 26 years, almost to the day!

How long did you know each other before you started dating? about a year and a half.

Who asked who out? John asked me to babysit for his kids (Travis and Sara) because he was really shy and just wanted to get to know me better! So, I guess he asked me.

How old are each of you? John is 53 and I am 47.

Whose siblings do/ did you see the most? Probably mine, but neither one of us has family within a 2 hour drive.

Do you have any children together? 3-Anni, Ben and Alex

What about pets? yes 2 - Fizzy (Fizzgig) a Daisy dog and Lucky, a miniature poodle.

Did you go to the same school? Nope. I was in 6th grade when he graduated!

Are you from the same home town? Nope. He's from Champaign, IL and I'm from Middlebury, IN.

Who is the smartest? I think we're both smart in different areas. I tease John that he married me because he was tired of lugging around a dictionary (he's always asking me how to spell words!) But when it comes to fixing things around the house there is none faster, smarter or better than my hubby!

Who is the most sensitive? I think I am, but this one is all John's! He works at it harder than I do.

Where do you eat out most as a couple? No one place in particular, but our favorite local place is Stromboli's. We think Chef Cesar puts an addictive chemical in his marinara sauce that makes you crave more!

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? We traveled out west about 10 years ago and we've been to Florida a couple of times. Oh, and we went on a couple of Mission Trips to Mexico City when we were first married.

Who has the worst temper? We're both pretty even here. It depends on the issue - we've taken on that..."don't sweat the small stuff"... attitude. I tend to bottle it up and then blow, John's more of an "let's talk about it now" kinda guy.

Who does the cooking? As empty nesters, I have to ask, "what's that?" But when we do cook, it's usually a joint effort anymore.

Who is the neat freak? Me, ME MEEE! In this area, John lets it pile up and then attacks it in an all out effort. I like to clean as I go. I can't sit and watch TV without noticing dust, fingerprints of grandkids, specks on the floor, etc. and then taking care of them right then.

Who is the more stubborn? Yeah...Again, we're both a little give and take with each other on this one. We have seemed to mellow in our old age!

Where was your first date? John took me Par 3 golfing. I grew up in a family of golfers, but I hated to golf!

Who has the bigger family? I have 4 brothers and John has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. But with our extended families (marriages, kids, etc.) I have 38 and he has 13.

Do you get flowers often? No. But my favorite flowers are those he picks from around the yard and brings to me in the morning for me to wake up to! Such a romantic gesture, yet I don't know if he realizes how much that means to me? I'll have to remind him....hmmmm....

How do you spend the holidays? John's work schedule might have him work Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Christmas, so we just try to make a family day around his schedule. We also try to get to Illinois, Indiana and the East side of the state to see family sometime during the holidays.

How long did it take to get serious? Not very long; about 2 months?

Who eats more? John. He had a 27 inch waist when I married him, and I was jealous because I had a 28 inch waist! We were such kids then! But we've both made up for it since then!

Who’s better with the computer? This is another one of those "depends on" areas. We both have great skills on the computer.

Who drives when you are together? It depends on which vehicle we take. He drives his truck and I drive the Rendezvous. But if it's a long trip, we take turns.

Live, Laugh, Love...
